Do: Solar Eclipse

Summer camps are winding down and we are on the lookout for activities that won’t take away from that school supply budget (5 pair of scissors for a fourth grader, seriously?!). On August 21st there will be a solar eclipse, the first in 38 years, and it promises to be a lesson more amazing than any taught in school this month. Here’s what you will see where you are. Libraries across the country are offering educational programs leading up to the eclipse, and the Space Science Institute has initiated a major outreach program providing over 2 million pairs of glasses to local libraries for safe eclipse viewing. Go quickly and be aware that there are limits to how many pairs will be given per family.
Want: Jacob Foster Designs

I had a former career in apparel and swam in those waters for a while. Though now in semi-retirement, I have not lost interest. Like many of you, I follow fashion bloggers, designers and retail companies, and I love seeing what’s new out there. I don’t know how I stumbled on Jacob Foster Designs but I am drawn to his use of bone and hair. Over the years, my tastes have evolved and I am embracing the very natural moment many designers are in right now; it seems more timeless and less trendy. My favorites are in the tassel collection but the one I am completely coveting is this tribal antler necklace.

Watch: 73 Questions

I used to love binging on trash mags and keeping up on pop culture, but life is a little different now—entertainment has to fit between the two little people taking turns talking in my ear. The Vogue video series 73 Questions helps provide a welcome relief from the day-to-day. I first watched a 73 Questions video of Nicole Kidman and found that she felt more human to me afterward. Look for your favorite movie star, model, athlete, musician or comedian if you steal some moments for yourself this weekend.
