Company Memo: Five Bloggers to Follow in 2018

January 26, 2018

I love how Lorae and I can jump from deeply personal conversations one minute to silly, superfluous dialogue the next. Being able to swim in the deep waters and also hang out in the 2-foot area of the pool is what keeps our friendship interesting. Lorae is my go-to for all things on trend and what’s happening in pop culture. She keeps up with it and I don’t so she sends me all the good stuff that I must know. She didn’t introduce me to every single blogger this week, but I am swooning over Young House Love and getting dinner tips from The Natural Nurturer. I know you’ll enjoy reading!

If you have been following along, Molly and I have been trying to clean up and simplify in 2018. This week we are hitting the refresh and leading you to some incredible women you can look to for wisdom or inspiration. All of these amazing finds have blogs and Instagram accounts to pour over. Enjoy!!!

MOTHERHOOD:
Have you ever had that moment when you laid your head on your pillow and said “I wish I could have a do over.” Ladies, you need Hands Free Mama. Rachel Macy Stafford is a NYT best selling author and I love her messages for moms in the trenches. She helps you put your best foot forward so you can choose “only love for today.” She helps you focus on the things that are important and let go of what is not serving you.

_____

BEAUTY:
Molly and I have both been learning about how to care for ourselves in these dark days of winter. When we need a little lift, why is it so hard to start with ourselves? A little lip color, a new hair flip, or a bright eye. Meet Kate from The Small Things. She started with hair tutorials and has evolved into a lifestyle blogger that any woman could identify with. I love that she spills her secrets on technique and her favorite tools to manage beauty when your hands are full. She is not all beauty; I love her recent post where she tackled yearly goals and how she plans and encourages her following to do the same.

_____

HOME DECOR:
One of my best girlfriends and mom partners led me to Young House Love years ago, mainly because we were both Richmond transplants and loved what they were doing. John and Sherry began their labor of love in 2006 when they purchased their first home. They began documenting their renovation on a blog which threw them into the home decor spotlight—that blog later turned into a NYT best selling book. They’re now on onto their third home and first beach house renovation, they have a exclusive fixture and lighting line at Target, a podcast, and even a coloring book! What they do best is highlight fantastic finds and make home decor attainable for any budget. I think you are going to love them!

____

FOOD:
I am always looking for new, healthy and yummy recipes and I love having this lady in my arsenal for 2018. I know that we all cannot afford to buy organic or take a holistic approach to food, but I love that you can glean little tidbits from people that inspire you along the way. You have to read about Taesha’s journey and why she is choosing to share her knowledge and her life with her readers. The Natural Nuturer offers an incredibly fresh perspective to start the year. Her recipes are veggie-loaded and kid-approved and isn’t that what we all need! She even has a recipe for Chocolate Protein Dough Nuts with hidden veggies (hello sugar addict!!!). She believes in one pan meals, loves breakfast bowls, smoothies, crock pots, instapots and all things that make food healthy and easy for a family. Oh, and she has an ebook—we may need that too!!!

____

INSPIRATION:
One of the hopes of In Her Company is to tell stories that connect women, right? Well, The Refined Woman is a great source of inspiration. Kat’s beginning started from something small and evolved into something beautiful and fulfilling for everyone. Through her stories we can all learn to embrace our evolving changes and new beginnings together. Isn’t that what we’re all here for? The women profiled can represent anyone in our life and the inspiration is abounding. I’m almost 40 and am still learning who I want to be; these woman are wonderful examples of who we can become.
